Warminster Basketball Association League Purpose This is an instructional league. Emphasis is on learning the game of basketball, learning sportsmanship and having fun. If this is not the type of league in which you want your child to participate, please consider another type of league or program, in a different organization. Code Of Conduct General Referees are doing a difficult job for which, traditionally, there are few volunteers. Abusive actions or language toward them is inappropriate and unacceptable. Anyone who cannot, or will not, abide by this rule will be asked to leave the premises. Any person who displays this type of behavior repeatedly will be banned from the games. Custodians, janitors, or other employees of gym facilities are to be treated with respect and courtesy. Remember it is their facility, not the WBA’s. Game officials have the authority to enforce league rules as necessary. League Commissioners, in conjunction with the WBA board of directors, will have the final decision in any disciplinary matters. Parents If your child cannot attend a game or practice, please notify the coach ahead of time. This allows the coach to determine the line-up for games, or the emphasis of a practice session, prior to arriving at the gym. Do not “drop off” (non-players) children and leave them unattended at a game or practice. If other children accompany you at games or practices, YOU are responsible for their behavior. No one (child or adult) except players, officials, coaches, or WBA league representatives are permitted on the court during games/practices. This includes warm ups, half time, timeouts, etc. Please note that small children coming on to the court during play endanger themselves, as well as, players and referees. Any damages to a facility caused by failure to abide by WBA rules, will be your responsibility. It is the responsibility of parents to make others (i.e. grandparents, neighbors, etc.) attending a game/practice aware of the WBA code of conduct. Spectators The WBA has the use of the court and bathroom facilities at each gym. Stages, classrooms, etc. are strictly off limits. Hallways are to be used only for passage to and from the gyms and bathroom facilities. Bathroom facilities are provided for the convenience of everyone. They must be kept clean and neat if the WBA is to have continued use of the facilities. No basketballs are to be brought into the gym by any spectator. Coaches will provide the balls for the players. Anyone bringing basketballs to the games/practices will be asked to remove them from the premises. Abusive and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. This type of behavior towards players, officials, coaches or other spectators will result in game forfeiture if the offender does not leave the premises when asked to do so. Taunting of players, officials, coaches, etc. is inappropriate behavior. All spectators are expected to abide by the WBA code of conduct. Players/Coaches Physical violence of any kind will not be tolerated. A minimum of a two game suspension will be enforced for this type of behavior. If in the view of game officials and the league commissioner it is warranted, the player(s)/coaches(s) may be expelled from the league with no fees refunded. Inappropriate behavior by coaches should be reported to the league commissioner who will investigate such incidents and report to the WBA board of directors. The decision of the board will be final. No basketballs are to be brought into the gym by players. Coaches will provide basketballs for the their respective teams.
